Style Post: The Corset.

Top, shorts: Vintage / Shoes: TJ Maxx / Necklace: Go Jane
"Never underestimate the power of dreams and the influence of the human spirit. We are all the same in this notion: The potential for greatness lives within each of us." - Wilma Rudolph
I can't wait for the day where people dare to be who they are, unapologetically. Where we all live lives we can be proud of, regardless of whether they reach a level of fame or not. Forget fame. Strive to make a difference in this world...in your community and within your family. Strive for greatness within yourself.

Peace.

Style Post: Sixties Mod.

"If someone thinks that love and peace is a cliche that must have been left behind in the Sixties, that's his problem. Love and peace are eternal". -John Lennon
I found this adorable black and white Mod style dress at a thrift store in Virginia. It's straight out of the sixties with the big polka dots, simple contrasting colors, knee length detail, and the way it hangs loosely. For a modern update, I added a belt and pulled the dress up and over the belt to make it shorter and give definition to the waist. Definitely one of my favorite new dresses.

What's your favorite thing to shop for at thrift stores?  Mine would be vintage dresses and mom jeans (which eventually turn into high waist shorts and distressed boyfriend jeans, lol.) Anyway, click the link below for the full post.

Peace.

Style Post: Thrifted Riding Pants.

"We must believe that we are gifted for something, and that this thing, at whatever cost, must be attained. –Marie Curie

Last week I took a trip to the Goodwill and found some awesome new pieces to add to my wardrobe. My favorite item would be these high waisted riding pants. They have a great thickness to them and look brand new. Plus I love the unusual green color. American Apparel  has riding pants very similar to these, but they cost $74, and these were only $4. I'd call that a win.

That's why regardless of how much money I have in the bank, I will always shop at thrift stores. Because if you know what you're doing, you can walk out of there with gems at a fraction of what it runs you in stores. Great style doesn't have to be expensive. You just have to recognize when you find something worth buying, and mix and match it with modern pieces in your wardrobe to create one cohesive look.

The blazer I'm wearing is also thrifted (with a little DIY spray-painted message on the back), the crop top is from Rue 21, the shoes are Nine West, and my purse is from H&M. Clink the link below for more pics :)

Style Post: Vintage Fringe Queen.

Top and skirt: thrift store finds/ Shoes: Go Jane
“Style is knowing who you are, what you want to say, and not giving a damn” ― Gore Vidal
I found this skirt last weekend at a thrift store and wouldn't allow myself to pass it up. It's light weight, has a little texture to it, metal studs, and best of all: fringe!  Vintage fringe finds make me tingly all over. I decided the high waisted nature of the skirt would be cute with this black bandeau top with a mesh panel and a pair of strappy black sandals. All black everything.

Have you found anything awesome lately while thrifting?

"Wherever you go, no matter what the weather, always bring your own sunshine." -Anthony J. D'Angelo

This post is my big eff you to today's winter storm here in Virginia. These pictures are from last weekend when it was in the high 60s and right now it's about 10 degrees. Now. How does that even make sense? Global warming I tell ya. Anywho, I can't wait until Spring shows its pretty face. Because I'm over the snow days.

Did you guys get that crazy weather?

Outfit of the Day: Black, White, and Gold.

Hey guys...

I enjoy and  nice black and white ensemble as much as the next lovely lady, but this one has a special place in my heart. No, I can't really advise you on where you can find an outfit like this, but it's really all about style. The top is the standout of this outfit and it happens to be vintage. Pieces like this are the main reason I live for thrift stores. Because if you look hard enough, you can find some truly amazing one of a kind pieces at awesome prices. I'm talking 3-4 dollars.

Anywho, click the link below for more pics.

Adios.

Style Post: Gladiator Sandals.

My people! How's it going?

Guess what I got in the mail last week? Those tall gladiator sandals that I posted here from Go Jane. With the gladiator sandal being one of the trendier shoes of the moment, I couldn't resist. Plus I've never had sandals so tall, and it makes me want to go fight lions and be some jungle woman.

Anywho, I think they look great, especially considering the price. Because lets be real, nobody over here at The Pretty Mustache is paying for those Chanel joints. We're paying bills over her, ha. But love the shoes, and this is the look that I styled for them.

Style Post: Capetown.

Hola friends,

Here's a new outfit of the day. I'm wearing a vintage plaid cape, a blue Old Navy tee, distressed jeans, and neon yellow heels with ankle straps. My neon heels with clear plastic are from Go Jane. I love them because they're comfy and adorable.

My sister Jai bought me this cape like 5 years ago in STL as a gift. I have literally never worn it. I couldn't tell you why, maybe because I'm slightly retarded, but I will keep clothes in my closet for years until I feel like it's the perfect time to whip them out. Not exactly something I want to keep doing, but I'm working on it. (My closet literally broke a couple weeks ago from too many clothes. Took about 8 bags to the Goodwill...and there will be plenty more where that comes from.)

Style Post: Vintage Rabbit Fur Bomber.

Hola friends.

Last week I went to, get this, an Earth, Wind, and Fire concert. Talk about the Mecca of R&B/ Funk. Amanze managed to get us free tickets, so it really wasn't an option whether we were going or not. These are legends we're talking about here....40 years in the making. Great show, great memories.

Outfit of the Day: Black and White Vintage Top.

Hola. Time to hit you with another "Outfit of the Day." I wore this outfit while home in STL. (Excuse my junky room, I was living out of my suitcase, lol)

This is a vintage top that I got a few years back that is in awesome condition. I'm really digging black and white right now. It looks so put together and bold, and I believe this shirt is all of that. It is detailed front and back and even has printed patterns along the collar.

Style Post: Jeepers Creepers.

My creepers came in last week (yes), and I couldn't wait to find something to wear them with. I feel like creepers are a cool outcast of a shoe. Most people probably won't understand my attraction to this shoe , but it has a 90's appeal that I love.

I'm wearing a thrifted dress that I have been in love with since I first bought it a few years back and a skull and crossbones beanie from Go Jane. The thigh high socks are from Urban Outfitters.

Style Post: Digital Camo.

In a world filled with the regular military camouflage, I've found the digital print is underused.
Which, I'm sure, is why I was excited when I found this jacket.

(MINI) Style Post: Vintage Floral Top.

Hey guys! This is a quick, simple outfit featuring a vintage floral shirt and vintage purple belt. I have a ton of shirts in this style because they're comfortable and I can wear them similar to how I wear T's. Just throw them on with a belt around your waist and call it a day.

I bought the glasses (no they aren't prescription) because I liked the leopard print and cat eye. Funky glasses/sunglasses are cool because it easily changes the feel of an outfit. I wore dark blue curvy fit Forever 21 jeans. (Please tell me you know about these, because they are seriously like 10 bucks. It gets no better.)
And some brown beaded mocassins with white trim. Shout out @vivalablackgirl for the shoe hook up.

Cheers.
