Style Post: TDE Show.

Jacket & dress: F21/ Tights: Ebay / Shoes: GoJane
"Hip-Hop isn't just music, it is also a spiritual movement of the blacks! You can't just call Hip-Hop a trend."- Lauryn Hill
This is what I'll be wearing to the Schoolboy Q / Isaiah Rashad show tonight in DC. When I think of concert outfits, I think of outfits like this: cool, but comfortable. Here are a few tips I have for getting dressed for a concert with a hip-hop crowd:

1. Wear flats. Just do it. There's nothing worse than the girl in the bathroom with her shoes off.
2. Dress for the occasion. Hip hop shows can be grimy, so don't show up in your absolute best clothes.
3. In the winter, rock a short bodycon dress with a leather jacket. Throw some tights on and call it a night.
4. In the summer, go for crop tops, short shorts, or rompers. Or a cool graphic tee.
5. And most importantly, vibe out.

Kendrick Lamar Covers GQ as "Rapper of the Year."

Kendrick on GQ's 18th annual "Men of the Year" issue. Go head chile! He shares the cover spot with 4 other leading men, which include Justin Timberlake, Matthew Mcconaughey, Will Ferrell, and the late James Gandolfini. I feel like a proud mother. It's just awesome when you see the talent in people, and the world does too. Doesn't always play out like that, but Kendrick is a star...how could he not shine?

ASAP Rocky for GQ Mag.

ASAP Rocky in the latest GQ looking like a straight up kid in a candy store. For this nautical shoot, Rocky wears brands like Tom Ford, Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, and Gap. He's one example of how a hood negro will get some money, and show off because he actually has an understanding of high fashion. Quite tired of rich folks looking extra typical and flashy for no reason. But I digress.

More pics and a behind the scenes video of the shoot below...

SXSW 2013: Part 3.

Saturday was basically wild. We spent our day at the Fader Fort, which had free drinks and other adorable things like a cotton candy machine and games. The weather was perfect, birds were chirping, and drinks were flowing. At Fader, we saw Earl Sweatshirt, Delorean, French Montana, who brought out special guests P. Diddy and Mackelmore, and had a surprise set from Bun B, which was EVERYTHING. It was a good ass time. I never imagined I'd be in a crowd watching P. Diddy perform "All About the Benjamins", but I did. And it was epic shit.

Kendrick Lamar at SXSW in 10 Deep.

At the SPIN showcase (which was dope-phi-dope), Kendrick put the snazz on 'em with a grey floral hoodie, faded jeans, a simple Hermes belt, and wheat Timbs. When he came on stage, I was thinking "I like this look." Simple, but well put together, and you can tell it wasn't exactly cheap even though it looked laid back.

I found out Kendrick was rocking a Spr. 2013 10 Deep hoodie from their "Into the Wild" collection (which can be seen below.) They used their Bacchanal print to create a floral yet masculine hoodie in grey and it runs for $110. You can purchase it here at 10 Deep's website.

SXSW 2013: Part 2.

Friday was such an awesome day. We went to the SPIN showcase, ate at this Irish bar and had THEE WIERDEST fellow randomly pay for our meals and buy us shots (he may have been a serial killer), and then we found this random park with all these colored orbs on the ground. Playtime with the homies indeed.

Oh and I met Danny Brown outside of Fader. It was his birthday and I'm sure he was probably all kinds of high at the moment bc, I mean, why wouldn't he be, lol. He has such a nonchalant coolness about him though.

At SPIN, we saw Chvrches, Solange, Kendrick Lamar, and Trinidad James. They had such an impressive ass lineup that if we were to go home after that, I would have been satisfied. I was really curious to see Solange and Trin live, bc I've already seen Kendrick (amazing, as always.) Everyone's show was dope and the crowd was totally into it. Solange obviously wins best dressed with her little bedazzled short suit. She vibes so well on stage and I really enjoyed her voice. The Knowles sisters are winning right now.

After we left the show and grabbed some food (accompanied by crazy man), we found this park outside the art museum with all these lights set up and interactive orbs on the ground. Good times were had in that park.

PS: I did cut my hair, and will probably cut it again.
Look out for SXSW 2013: Part 3 soon.

Joey Bada$$ is the New Creative Director for ECKO Clothing.

18 year old rap phenom Joey Bada$$ is the new creative director of ECKO Clothing aka my life just officially became chopped liver. I just have on question....The Fugg? Um when did doing nothing in fashion qualify you to become a creative director of a fashion brand? I'm better off trying to become a reality star, and subsequently being offered my own fashion line after I drop my first studio album.

I am not throwing any shade Joey's way, I like the dude and this collaboration, it's just this type of thing keeps happening. Entertainers keep getting offered things just based off the publicity they could generate for whatever company they're working with. Rihanna with River Island for example...or how about the biggest question mark in life: Alicia Keys becoming Global Creative Director of Blackberry. Wayment? She just say Blackberry? Yea she really just did. No correlation whatsoever, but nevertheless, yet another job given for no reason.

Daddy Brown for Mark McNairy's S/S 2013 Lookbook.

Rapper Danny Brown brings a little Triple X to the Spring/ Summer Mark McNairy Lookbook. Danny (and that crazy ass head of his) doesn't shy away from the playful collection filled with bold prints like leopard, florals, and polka dots.

I personally love the quilted blue shorts and the look with the polka dot shorts and floral top.

A$AP Rocky, the Fashion Newcomer.

I love this New York negro. First of all, his music is on point like always, and THEN he's a baby fashionista (I don't know if you're supposed to call boys fashionista's, but I just did.) He's a big fan of Givenchy, Balmain, Rick Owens, Jeremy Scott, and singlehandedly resurrected S.S.U.R. There's a really interesting interview with GQ magazine where they showed him runway photos from different designers like Martin Margiela, Givenchy, Raf Simons, and he gave his honest opinions of the designer digs. Cool stuff. Check that out here.

Baby Kreay.

I just found this pic that Kreayshawn instagrammed late October, and fell in love with her leather jacket. Just looking at it makes me want to go find a jacket at a thrift store and get some sharpies and go ham, Keith Haring style.

What do you guys think?
Isn't this just adorable.

Sidenote: Did anybody actually purchase or listen to "Something About Kreay?"
I'm pretty sure she broke the record for worst debut album sales on a major label. Po child.
Not sure if the album was that terrible, or if just nobody knew about it.
I don't really think they did enough to promote her, but meh.

Peace out.
