Racial Profiling is Alive and Well and Your Favorite Retail Chains Got the Memo.

Lately, there have been more and more stories about racial profiling in high end department stores like Barneys and Macys. You may have heard about the Trayvon Christian and Kayla Phillips' incidents while shopping in Barneys. But recently, even actor Rob Brown of the show Treme has shared his experience with racial profiling while shopping.

According to Brown, after buying a Movado watch in Macy's, he was handcuffed and officers insisted he was using a stolen credit card (with no actual proof or reason for suspicion, mind you.) Even after checking his wallet for various forms of ID, they insisted his ID "was false and that he could not afford to make such an expensive purchase." It appears that regardless of what some people would like to believe, racial profiling is still happening every day. Is it so hard to believe black people can earn and save money to buy luxury items? And should it be OK to get arrested for using your own money to buy something... just because you're black? I want to go out on a limb here and say "certainly fucking not." :)

Beyonce and Jay-Z in Black & White in NYC.

I'm telling you guys, it's all about the clean look of black and white this Spring/ Summer. Both Jay and Beyonce were out sporting their B/W looks. She was rocking a clean white blazer and black leather shorts. I swear shorty is wearing Jay's wife beater underneath lol, which is all gravy. She gave it a pop of color with the soft green heels. It's a great, unusual color. She topped it off with a black bowl hat. I feel like she should have wore her hat lower on her face, but eh. Look at them legs doe.

Jay looks pretty basic with a "Blame Society" black tee, black jeans, and white sneakers. It isn't one of his most fashionable looks, but he's not famous for being a supermodel, so I'm going to leave homie alone. He has enough to worry about anyway. Like if Kimye expect Blue Ivy to have play dates with their recently announced baby girl. Blame society indeed.

Art Basel is one of the largest and most prestigious art shows in the world, and subsequently, it attracts art lovers everywhere and whole bag full of celebrities and artists. Celebs like Pharrell, Bey & Jay-Z, Cassie, Kanye, and more.

And of course there were lots of fabulous parties and music shows from the likes of Trinidad James, Danny Brown, and Azealia Banks. Catch me there next year gawking at some fabulous new innovative art piece. With music, art, and fashion, it's like the ultimate good time.

Basquiat.

Swizz Beatz for Reebok wearing all types of Basquiat.
Swizz is one of the main supporters of art in the hip hop community. Aside from him repping Jean-Michel Basquiat super hard, he is also an artist himself.(His personal paintings are kinda impressive.)

Anyway, Swizz is working not only on more Basquiat pieces, but also Keith Haring and Andy Warhol. I am really excited to see what he produces because I love all of those artists deeply, esp. Haring. The Keith Haring collection has yet to receive a release date.

Budweiser Made in America Music Festival.

Budweiser's "Made in America" Music Festival was last week, and it was a great time. Jay-Z chose an interesting mix of artists that could appeal to pretty much everyone there. I had every intention of going there and focusing on The Pretty Mustache, but it was a NON STOP weekend. There was absolutely no way I could do everything...so I chose to be a fest head doing the most. And it was great. Almost passed out, but nevertheless, lol.

I know many of you watched the live broadcast online, but this is the part of the festival you may not have seen. (Artist pics on The Clearance Aisle...including that fabulous Beyonce and Jay-Z photo.)
