Melody Ehsani's First Apparel Capsule Collection.

Untitled #193

With the success of her bold jewelry and shoe designs, it was only a matter of time before Melody Ehsani expanded into the world of apparel. In her first apparel capsule collection, she follows a definite floral trend, with vibrant oranges and polka dots, and adds Egyptian influences, using Cleopatra, hieroglyphics, and what looks like her own take on the Eye of Horus. In general, this is a very trendy, athletic inspired collection that would be perfect for spring and summer months.

To shop this new collection, head over to melodyehsani.com

What's your favorite piece from M.E.'s first apparel collection? I'm definitely checking for the red hockey jersey and the cropped tops. Honestly, I can take 'em all.

Stella Jean Fall 2014 RTW.

Stella Jean F/W 2014 RTW
Italian-Haitian designer, Stella Jean is known for taking cultural staples like African-inspired wax prints and hand-woven stripes from Burkina and transforming them into well-tailored pieces with perfect silhouettes. For Jean’s Fall 2014 Ready to Wear Collection, she introduces Italian crafted prints that were inspired by traditional Japanese art. Brands We Like: Casper and Pearl.

I recently came across Casper and Pearl while blog surfing, and I was delighted to see all of these amazing outfits. They feature this adorable floral print and incorporate matching top and bottom sets, overalls, jumpsuits, and dresses. I really like the feel of the clothes, very whimsical and fun.

Ye-didas.

Kanye's recently been on the interview circuit telling anybody that will listen about how he's been "marginalized" and shut out of the high fashion industry. From Sway in the Morning, to The Breakfast Club, to Shady FM, we've heard you loud and clear, Ye. They are not messing with your black ass. He'll also tell you about how Nike fudged him over and only allowed him to create two Yeezy's and how he didn't get any royalties out of the deal.

Even with all the buzz around his design aspirations and disgust at the high fashion world, Kanye has inked a deal with Adidas. They recently made a formal announcement:
“For 2014, we welcome to the Adidas family one of the most influential cultural icons of this generation, Kanye West. Well known for breaking boundaries across music, film and design and partnering with our history in street wear culture and leading innovations in sport, we look forward to creating a new chapter. Details to follow.”

I'm personally excited for the collaboration because even though Kanye can be a cry baby at times and rub everybody the wrong way, he's still very talented and passionate about what he does. It's rumored to be a 10 million dollar deal with royalties included, so maybe we'll start to see a much happier Kanye in the near future. Lets hope so, cuz Lord knows we don't got the answers.

Peace.

$250 For a Plain Sweatshirt Though?

When Kanye's not being a parched drama queen, he's seems to still be a fashion designer. After much curiosity from the fashion world, he's released a line with A.P.C. titled the "Kanye West Collection." Clever name, right?

There are only 7 pieces, all solid basics like t-shirts, sweatshirts, and jeans. Sounds simple enough, but this is Kanye we're talking about. Allow me to drop the bomb on ya: the cheapest item from the Kanye West Collection is all of $120. And that is for a plain dark navy or white short sleeved tee. That t-shirt would have to be threaded with unicorn hair for me to even consider buying it. Certainly not prices for most people, but for those that can afford it,  it looks simple and clean.

Designer Spotlight: Stella Jean.

Please get familiar, because this here is boss shit. Haitian-Italian (yes, she's a sista!) designer Stella Jean is here to blow your minds with perfectly tailored bold African inspired prints for her S/S 2013 collection. She effortless mixes vintage tees, button downs, bold jewelry, funky fedoras, and silk head-wraps.

My favorite look from the collection has got to be the one below with the yellow cardigan and blue and red print A-line skirt. I live for it. And I LOVE the make-up. It's bold, yet refreshing.

Diane Von Furstenberg: RTW Fall 2013

Diane, my belle. Why must you make me so happy? I love this collection. Love the colors, love the fur, love the motha freaking 70s vibe in the building. The jumpsuits and pantsuits, and all that fuscia and red is too glamorous for me! I love it because it feels fun, free, and empowering.

There is plenty of metallic, which has been a frequent trend, but she's bold in her color choices. Vivid pantsuits, bold patterns, and flowing dresses. I also like the bright lips....nothing better than a good lip.

Hardware Jewelry Collection by Bond Hardware.

Chain Lock: $99
You may have noticed that jewelry makers have been using less delicate materials lately.
And with the emergence of large statement necklaces, it's no wonder jewelry designers Bond Hardware took a trip to the hardware store.

They created a line of jewelry that uses only hardware like chain locks (pictured above), hitch rings, and window locks.
I especially love the chain lock and the hitch ring.

The jewelry seems like it would be pretty easy to DIY.
So if you enjoy the look, but not the price tag, why not create a piece of your own?
you've got to admit, this stuff looks good.

The rest of the collection is below:
Hitch Ring:  $66
Double Clip: $33
Window Lock (male): $55

Window Lock (female): $44
