Lupita Nyong'o on the Cover of Vogue.
Oscar winner Lupita Nyong'o is having the best year ever. Some people dream all their lives of being on cover of Vogue, and Lupita, in the whirlwind that's surrounded her career, has landed July's "Women to Watch" cover. Yes ma'am. I'm proud of her success in the entertainment industry, especially with her being a black woman. And a dark skinned black woman at that.
Traditionally, darker black women weren't put in the spotlight or celebrated in the industry. If there was a successful black woman, she was usually a fair skinned, silky haired beauty. And I'm so happy that the perception is changing on what beauty is today. She is, after all, People's Most Beautiful woman in the world.
Even though Lupita is just being herself, she's a source of major inspiration for young girls in the black community. In a country where the darker you are, the more injustice you'll likely face, she is a beacon of hope. Your natural hair, your skin color, your physique...is beautiful, just the way it is.
Gon' head Lupita. I'm a fan. :)

Solange's Japanese-Inspired Shoot for The Ground Magazine.

Photog: Seiji Fujimori |
“It’s interesting that genres even still exist. How do you define pop or indie or R&B when the Internet gives us exposure to so much these days? I don’t see the point of trying, but it’s exciting to experience the beautiful evolution of music and I’m honored to be part of it,” Knowles reflects. “Even as a young girl, I listened to so much. I went through an angsty Alanis Morissette phase, and then I had an electronic phase, [and] then my Rasta phase. I would listen to Houston rappers like Kiki and Big Moe at the same time as Björk. I’d get teased at school but it’s great … that sort of thing isn’t questioned anymore.”I can definitely relate! Head over to thegroundmag.com for the full interview, and check more pics from the shoot below.

Harper's Bazaar: "Solange: The Cool Girl on the Block."
"For the first time in my life, I'm basing every decision around the idea of whether I want to do it or if I think it will be inspiring. And that's paid off for me." -SolangeStyled in Moschino, Ralph Lauren, Chanel, Marni, and Manolo Blahnik, Solange owns her latest shoot with Harper's Bazaar. I'm loving every style, with the Moschino jumpsuit and Chanel dress being my favorites. And that hair is doing everything and more.

Miley Covers June Issue of ELLE UK.
I came to the conclusion several months ago that Miley Cyrus is that deal, and is certainly not one to be written off solely based on her Disney days as Hanna Montana. Great body, talented, and has definitely figured out what works for her hair. Initially, her locks looked pretty awkward to, I think, everyone, but after letting the top grow out a little more, she's found the perfect recipe.

Kerry Washington for In Style Magazine.
Guess who's adorably featured in the May '13 issue of In Style? As you can see, it's our favorite scandalous female, Kerry Washington. The retro shoot has her rocking Fendi, Balenciga, Bottega Venetta, and Erdem. Love the way she's styled and how photog Jennifer Livingston captured all that beauty and retro glam.

Elle France: November 2012
I just caught wind of this gorgeous editorial for the November 2012 issue of Elle France. It's plain adorable. Fresh faced black women in tailored, menswear inspired pieces styled by Elissa Cannelle Castelbou.
Photographer Simon Burstall captures models Ataui Deng and Marihenny Rivera playfully posing in vibrant colors and bold prints. I need that black and white cap and the leopard suit in my life.

GQ's Men of the Year Cover featuring Rihanna.
My Lord, this child is just... When all else fails, get naked.
This is nothing for Rihanna. She loves being naked.
Maybe it's the island in her, but we certainly aren't complaining.
It is a bit predictable though.
Rihanna revealed her latest cover; the December GQ "Men of the Year" issue on her Instagram...wearing only a short black leather jacket and tattoos.
It seems we've been seeing and hearing a lot about Rihanna lately. Most likely because her 7th album "Unapologetic" comes out next week on November 19th. Are you feeling the cover, or do you feel some type of way about her nakedness?

Solange on the Cover of Elle South Africa.
Solange has been quite the fashionista in recent years. And it hasn't gone without notice. Most recently, she's on the cover of Elle South Africa dressed in lots of bold African prints and huge woven bangles....And that big ol afro she loves to rock and I love to see her rock.

Happy 26th Brithday Harper's Bazaar China.
In honor of the 26th birthday of the journal, Harper's Bazaar shot a "fashionable circumnavigations tour" where they went coast to coast from New York to Cali with fly ass model Tian Yi.
She rocks the fiercest cat eye known to man alongside several male counterparts like fake Elvis and a biker.

Ri Ri's Vogue Cover.
Rihanna snagged the November cover of Vogue Magazine, making this her second cover of American Vogue, and her third Vogue cover overall. Rihanna is definitely one of the hardest working women doing it right now. It seems like she just released "Talk That Talk", and now, yet another album "Unapologetic."
..which is quite fitting given her recent hookup with Ex-bf Chris Brown.
She never stops going. And I am NOT mad at her grind. Plus she looks gorgeous on the cover and her eyes are hypnotizing. Alright, alright, alriiiiight.

Azealia Banks "Dazed and Confused" Cover Banned.
Our gangster ass new female MC Azealia Banks is on yet another magazine cover. Except this time, the cover gets a little racy and in turn, gets banned from new stands in several countries. But who cares...shawty blowing up.

Elle Belgium 2012: Art Power

Photographer Hicham Riad and graffiti artist Kid Acne team up to put a creative spin on a sometimes typical spread in the June issue of Elle Belgium.
I love the art that flows from these images.
And this is so whimsical and awesome.
This inspired me to add some illustrations to my own photos.
I'll put those up some time this week. :)

Mulberry and Monsters.
Mulberry's beautiful, whimsical shoot for their Fall 2012 Ad Campaign.
Model Lindsey Wixson was shot alongside what looks like beasts from "Where the Wild Things Are."
She's carrying the Del Rey, Maisie and the new embellished Alexa bags. The campaign will break in The New York Times on June 24, and then in the August issue of U.S. and U.K. Vogue.
"Shot by Tim Walker in Blackheath Forest in Surrey, England, the campaign was inspired by creative director Emma Hill’s themes of dark fairy tales and fantasy travels. “The campaign is an interpretation of dreams and fears,” said Ronnie Cooke Newhouse, who art directed the campaign with her company, House + Holme. Walker said: “Ever since I was a little boy, I hoped to see a monster in the woods. Now, we all get to.”"
