Solange's Japanese-Inspired Shoot for The Ground Magazine.

Photog: Seiji Fujimori
Styled by Nick Nelson, Solange is giving major Japanese glam in The Ground magazine's Issue #4. In the issue, she talks about her music journey, fashion, natural hair, and inspiring others. She says:
“It’s interesting that genres even still exist. How do you define pop or indie or R&B when the Internet gives us exposure to so much these days? I don’t see the point of trying, but it’s exciting to experience the beautiful evolution of music and I’m honored to be part of it,” Knowles reflects. “Even as a young girl, I listened to so much. I went through an angsty Alanis Morissette phase, and then I had an electronic phase, [and] then my Rasta phase. I would listen to Houston rappers like Kiki and Big Moe at the same time as Björk. I’d get teased at school but it’s great … that sort of thing isn’t questioned anymore.”
I can definitely relate! Head over to thegroundmag.com for the full interview, and check more pics from the shoot below.

Harper's Bazaar: "Solange: The Cool Girl on the Block."

"For the first time in my life, I'm basing every decision around the idea of whether I want to do it or if I think it will be inspiring. And that's paid off for me." -Solange
Styled in Moschino, Ralph Lauren, Chanel, Marni, and Manolo Blahnik, Solange owns her latest shoot with Harper's Bazaar. I'm loving every style, with the Moschino jumpsuit and Chanel dress being my favorites. And that hair is doing everything and more.

Sneakers on Deck.

tennis shoes

Lord knows we're all entitled to wearing whatever the hell we please, whenever we please, but the fact that sneakers are trending in womenswear is just sugar and spice and everything nice. So I've found 8 cool sneaks that I think you should be aware of. Whether you like sleek, funky, or un poco distracting, you should invest in a nice pair of sneakers to revamp your wardrobe.

Solange on the Cover of Complex June/ July 2013.

Solange takes the cover of latest issue of Complex magazine. Rocking her signature fro, Solange glows in cute one pieces and hot pants. Photographed by Juco. She's wearing Gottex, Amaya Arzuaga, and Eres with Christian Louboutin heels.

I've seen her perform twice this year: once at SXSW and just last weekend at Sweetlife, and she was great and full of energy both times. She also just announced that she's starting a new record label named "Saint Records." Her upcoming album will also be released from this label and distributed through Sony. Exciting news for the youngest Knowles.

SXSW 2013: Part 2.

Friday was such an awesome day. We went to the SPIN showcase, ate at this Irish bar and had THEE WIERDEST fellow randomly pay for our meals and buy us shots (he may have been a serial killer), and then we found this random park with all these colored orbs on the ground. Playtime with the homies indeed.

Oh and I met Danny Brown outside of Fader. It was his birthday and I'm sure he was probably all kinds of high at the moment bc, I mean, why wouldn't he be, lol. He has such a nonchalant coolness about him though.

At SPIN, we saw Chvrches, Solange, Kendrick Lamar, and Trinidad James. They had such an impressive ass lineup that if we were to go home after that, I would have been satisfied. I was really curious to see Solange and Trin live, bc I've already seen Kendrick (amazing, as always.) Everyone's show was dope and the crowd was totally into it. Solange obviously wins best dressed with her little bedazzled short suit. She vibes so well on stage and I really enjoyed her voice. The Knowles sisters are winning right now.

After we left the show and grabbed some food (accompanied by crazy man), we found this park outside the art museum with all these lights set up and interactive orbs on the ground. Good times were had in that park.

PS: I did cut my hair, and will probably cut it again.
Look out for SXSW 2013: Part 3 soon.

Most Fashionable People of 2012.

A$AP Rocky
I've realized that people try to play A$AP on the fashion tip. Take note
of this young man because he has it. Not only is he talented musically,
but he always looks dope. I feel like he takes major fashion
risks and executes nicely. He also is the only person I allow
to wear his hair like that. :)
Rihanna
'Nuff said
Solange
Hello Solo my doll. I probably featured Solange on
The Pretty Mustache a million times in 2012. Her love of African
inspired prints was fun and fresh. And her natural
hair styles were perfect compliments.
Kanye
I mean really though, nobody else does what Kanye does. As a black
man AND a rapper..shit, as a human, he really stretches the
boundaries of  what's normal...and I love him for it.
Miroslava Duma
This is my girl right here. It never fails, she keep it trill
and always looks like a certified dime fresh off the
runway. I do not want to see her closet. I would
be too upset with my life.

Beyonce
We all know Beyonce is that chick, but I never pegged her as a fashionista
until 2012 where she kinda came out of nowhere killing it. Baddie Bey,
on the Instagram circuit, really showed a new side of herself.
Mama likes.

Solange and Beyonce at Solo's Bowery Ballroom Show in NYC.

Solange is currently on tour for her latest EP "True" that dropped a couple weeks ago. I've listened to a few tracks and it sounds pretty nice. Plus she looked adorable at her show in all types of retro garb and platform heels. I love that type of stuff.  I wouldn't mind seeing her live and apparently neither would her sister Beyonce.

Bey attended her show at Bowery Ballroom in NYC December 11th wearing a Torn by Ronny Kobo paisley print dress that was hugging those curves. We ain't mad at you girl.

Don't you just love these sisters sistas?

Who's Who of the New York Angel Ball.

Guests gathered at Cipriani Wall Street in New York last night for Gabrielle's Angel Foundation. Celebrity guests included Ashanti and her date Nelly, Angela Simmons, Solange, Estelle, and Kimye among many more. And I think it's safe to say the split is back in full effect. There was lots of sparkle and shine as the guests supported a good cause.

Solange at the American Ballet Theater Opening.

Solange stepped out in New York last night for the opening of the American Ballet Theater Opening.
Homegirl had to get that head pressed out for the night.
And as much as I adore her more natural hairstyles, I know it's hard to manage all that.

I mean, the one thing keeping me from going natural is my length and thickness(my hair, not all this booty, lol).
I would have the biggest fro if my hair were natural, but I just don't have time for all that.
So I'm sure this recent change is a good break for her and her hairdresser.

She sported a floral Dolce and Gabbana dress and embellished heels, a smokey eye, and a red lip.
Florals, sigh. I do enjoy the femininity of it.

Solange on the Cover of Elle South Africa.

Solange has been quite the fashionista in recent years. And it hasn't gone without notice. Most recently, she's on the cover of Elle South Africa dressed in lots of bold African prints and huge woven bangles....And that big ol afro she loves to rock and I love to see her rock.

Solange and Company.

Ya girl follows Solange on Instagram (@mydamnstagrams) and it's been pretty interesting lately.
From her chilling at the crib with friends, to celebrating her 26th birthday with her sister in the UK.
She's been living it up like a real playa should.

Solange for Glamour France Magazine.

Solange in the building. The 25 year old has a spread in the July 2012 issue of Glamour France, where she is looking fab-u-lous if I may say so myself.

Lots of bold prints and a type of retro chic that I can totally appreciate (seeing as though I live most of my fashion life in the 80s/90s.) I would deal with a fro on my head as well bc I love the look, but I would most likely break my comb and lose my mind "at the same damn time." *cues up Future
