Big, boxy, and sometimes shiny, top hats are perfect for looking chic and like a rich old gent at the exact same time. Top hats have historically been worn by men, often times a staple of the upper class, but this is a trend for the ladies and the fellas. They haven't been so popular in recent years, but oh baby, I'm ready for a comeback.

For a tailored or androgynous look, a woman could easily master the top hat. Thanks to pant suits and black and white staples, Fall 2013 would be the perfect opportunity to experiment.  And since it's a really bold accessory, it definitely has to be approached with heavy confidence.

So why would you want to wear a top hat? I'll tell you why....

1. Because you will temporarily get to be this girl.
With confidence dripping from your extra long cigarette holder.

2. It will give you a day pass to use fun, old school phrases like:

"That's sharp" 

Meaning: That looks really awesome and jazzy

or even 

"Tell those fuddy-duddy's to lay off the giggle-water"

Meaning: Tell those lames to put down the alcohol.

3. Even kids wear top hats. 

And not just any kid, but arguably the coolest kid in existence. Take this young fellow for example. Bet he gets all the ladies. 

4. Erykah Badu wears them.

And I don't know about you, but I generally cosign whatever she likes. She is the queen of cool confidence.

5. If you can properly fit a top hat into your outfit, you'll basically be that dude.
I don't know about you, but if I see anybody wearing a top hat, and owning the look, I'll basically think you're a style genius.  Layers upon layers, and a top hat to finish off the look.
