What They Wore at the 2013 Met Gala.

The red carpet fashion show which is the Met Gala was just the other night, and it has a lot of people talking (thank you, Kim Kardashian.) This years theme was Punk: Chaos to Couture. Not many people seemed to follow this theme, but the ones that did, pretty much lost their minds (thank you, Madonna.) Besides a few fashion misses, there were plenty of beautiful gowns and looks of the night. Let's discuss.

Some of my favorites looks were:
Solange rocking that big ass afro in a blue printed Kenzo gown. She. Looks. Great. As usual. Her and Beyonce's styles are so different, but I totally relate to hers more. Katy Perry looking like straight up D&G royalty. She was recently spotted at Coachella wearing an adorable Dolce & Gabbana two piece. Their clothes definitely work for her. And now I want a crown :(
Anne Hathaway, who looked AMAZING to say the least. Super surprised, because she usually doesn't wow me, but her hair makes her look so chic and the Valentino dress is gorgeous. I am not mad. In other hair news, Nicole Richie definitely took it there sporting what looks like bright grey hair. Whatever it is, I like it. It complements her skin tone. Sara Jessica looks perfect as usual and Lena Dunham also looks great, even though her dress is really no big deal.

Oh, and the Olsen twins can almost do no wrong in my eyes. They don't ask permission, they just do.

What I didn't love:
Kim Kardashian, duh. (Full post on her below.) Madonna in Givenchy on some dominatrix type stuff. She looks fierce, but I don't think that look is a winner. I guess she wanted to embrace the punk theme, but still, she looks out of place. Beyonce also in Givenchy....I just didn't like it. The print seems a little gaudy, the matching gloves are a miss, the belt, the shoes, the style of dress... I just don't like it much. And Nicki Minaj looked like a hip hop vampire.

In other random news:
Looks like Pharrell wore eye liner. Hmm.

Take a look at the pics below.
What do you think? Who do YOU love and what can you do without?

Let a sista know.

Kanye Rocking a Red Ski Mask at Maison Martin Margiela's Paris Show.

Kanye recently made fashion headlines, as always....again, at Maison Martin Margiela's Fashion Show in Paris last week. This time it was all about this frayed red beanie/ ski mask. Now I can't tell if it was bought that way (I haven't seen any that look so DIY'd) or if one of his stylists were feeling adventurous and a little scissor happy. Nevertheless, he's wearing it. And what better place to wear it than a Margiela show, given their love of extreme headwear.

I will say this though: With all the extreme comments I've been reading about Kanye and his outlandish fashion choices, I can't help but want to defend him. Are you going to see me wearing a frayed ski mask on my head? Most likely no. BUT it doesn't look absolutely ridiculous, it looks Kanye. I am so not surprised anymore. He loves fashion just like the rest of us, and this is how he chooses to express himself. It doesn't make him weird, he's just adventurous....and I can't really be mad at that. I mean, it's just a red ski mask.

But anyway, he paired the red mask with an all white outfit, a black overcoat draped like a cape, and tan Visvim mocassin sneakers.

New H&M Digs: Maison Martin Margiela x H&M Dress, Quilted Oxblood Top, and more.

One of the best stores to shop at for trendy clothes at a decent price is H&M.
Now if only you could order online...then it would be serious trouble for everyone's wallet.
I picked these up around the New Year, and they're some of my favorite new things.

1. Large statement necklace with a black, green, and yellow color combination.
This necklace warms my heart. When I saw it, I knew I had to have it, and apparently I wasn't the only one. I don't know if the sales associate was trying to spread some holiday cheer or what not, but she certainly gave me her employee discount for no reason...other than the fact she was really excited I was buying this necklace. #schwing. It was $35, which was a tad more than I'd normally pay for a necklace, but I mean, look at it.

2. Quilted oxblood top.
Oxblood was a choice color this F/W. It's a rich, unusual, and a little harsh, but I love it. I really appreciated quilted things this season as well, so this top was the perfect mixture.

3. Maison Martin Margiela trompe l'oeil evening dress from S/S '96.
[Trompe l'oeil is the art of using realistic imagery to create a 3D illusion.] Anybody that follows this blog knows how I felt about the Maison Martin Margiela H&M collab: Hella excited. Finally got my hands on a piece of the collection (this is actually my second piece, but the first that I decided to keep. I got the bodysuit first) and I'm really happy about this choice. It's a floor length evening dress with the image of a grey sequins dress printed on it. And it's cool because you are indeed quite casual, but it looks hella fancy.  I like it because it's perfect for all weather and is versatile.

4. (Mens) Love + Regret color block tee
While I was shopping it up, I grabbed a simple color-block tee for my boy. He keeps it quite fashionable too. So for the winter, this will most likely be paired with a zip up hoodie, maybe maroon or navy.

But Why Yal Have to Play Me Though?

Can I be extremely aggravated with the ridiculousness that is H&M? Oh I can? Cool.

So as you all know, I've been really excited about the Maison Martin Margiela collaboration with H&M that was just released yesterday. I got myself excited because they wrote the collection would be available both in stores and online.

Now, even though there are many H&M stores throughout the US, there were only so many that got the collection, which I'm sure is probably sold out in stores now. MY store was not one of the lucky ones. But that's cool, I'll just buy it online...
