It's funny, because before I knew the meaning of their Spring 2012 Collection: Miraculous Mundane, I said to myself "This looks like something from Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory", seeing as though I lowkey love the whimsy of that movie, and low and behind, that was exactly the point. And that's what's fabulous about Romance Was Born. They are able to translate their ideas into clothing...and you can actually get it.
For Summer 2012's Berserkergang collection, I was in love. It's like the coolest collection ever. All the Marvel superheroes...oy vey, it's just dope. And Marvel Comics proudly supported their collection as they opened MBFW Australia last year.
Check out their 2012 Collections below:
Fall/ Winter 2012: HAPPY CAMPERS
"Taking inspiration from scouts and girl guides , vintage tapestry , Moroccan rag rugs and the west German Scheurich vases known for their rustic shapes and their fiery red and orange lava glazes. Romance Was Born delivers a winter collection for 2012 that captures the fun and freedom of the 70’s with some glam metallic lame elements that give the range a disco edge. Don’t forget your mascara and grab your backpack. This is camping Romance Was Born Style."
Summer 2012: BERSERKERGANG
"Behold, Marvel’s mighty heroes! Witness the birth of CMYK POWER! They Live! They Walk! They Conquer! Romance Was Born present - Berserkergang! A band of heroic brothers and sisters, lead by Doctor Strange an invincible Master of Mystic Arts; The Silver Surfer – Sky-Rider of the Spaceways and wielder of the “power cosmic”; The Incredible Hulk an uncontrollable monster and Thor - Thunder God of another realm, Asgard! Will our fearless heroes risk engaging in Berserkergang, a state of unbeatable warrior power to defeat the evil supremacy taking over the world?"Spring 2012: MIRACULOUS MUNDANE
"Inspired by the psychedelic saccharine world of Willy Wonka and the garish “lurid chroma” drips and swirls of Stephen Bush’s art. Romance Was Born’s spritely pre collection is vibrant with prints that contour and enhance the body like melted lollipop whirlpools and neon prisms of off kilter kaleidoscopic landscapes. Romance Was Born and Stephen Bush share a fascination with the surreal and an appreciation of the absurd, they have interpreted Bush with a natural creative understanding."
