Holla at Me: A Question on Matching.

The Matching Game

One of our readers Aum Unique hit me up on the Facebook Page with a Pretty Mustache question. What chu talkin bout girl?

It's funny because in high school I was the QUEEN of matching. I literally matched my shoes to my belt to my shirt with bracelets and book bags and EVERYTHING. But now it's almost as if I try not to match on purpose.

That type of stuff just isn't necessary anymore. Wearing too much of the same thing can be uninteresting; that is, if it's not done right. If you're going the matchy route, just make sure it's daring.

Like I enjoy matching different shades of the same color; different blues for example. Or you could wear the same pattern head to toe. Beyonce and Pharrell were just photo'd at Art Basel wearing these little numbers:

Yes, they are hella matchy but by wearing these types of outfits, it looks dope and different. It's not the same as wearing a red shirt, red shoes, and a red purse. That just looks easy and ordinary, and nobody's going to think you can dress based on that.

The moral of the story is, you shouldn't focus on being matchy matchy...unless you can kill that shit royally in a really off the wall way. Just be original and be you and it'll work out.

Hit me up in the comment box or our Facebook Page with any responses or questions of your own. Peace.
